Anita Grooms, Dental Assistant: How Cervical Decompression Helped

June 21, 2017Solomon KamsonAll testimonials, Video

A busy mom, wife and professional, Anita Grooms has lived for 15 years dealing with pain that has radiated from her neck down to her wrist. A dental assistant, Grooms is 44 years old and states that her left hand has a problem that is caused by issues with her cervical spine.

“The hardest part is having pain…. I’m pushing myself and pushing myself because of pain,” she says.

Grooms says that the problem with her neck has resulted from her standing over patients while turning her head as she performs the

cervical decompression patienttasks associated with her job. Before coming to Spine Institute Northwest, Grooms says that she tried nearly every treatment imaginable. She says that she has gotten massages once a week to once a month for the last 15 years to try to help ease her pain. She has also tried acupuncture and everything else, but nothing worked.

Grooms went to her doctor, who referred her to a surgeon. The surgeon told her that she needed three cervical fusions in her neck. Because she did not want to go that route, she instead chose to talk to a doctor at Spine Institute Northwest about less aggressive treatment alternatives such as minimally invasive back surgery or laser spine surgery.

Dr. Solomon Kamson at the Spine Institute Northwest recommended that she try a cervical decompression along with stem cell therapy. Grooms says that Dr. Kamson at Spine Institute Northwest has an unparalleled bedside manner. She says that he took the time to thoroughly educate her about her various treatment options, including minimally invasive back surgery, laser spine surgery and regenerative medicine, rather than simply scheduling a procedure. Grooms believes that people should avoid trying aggressive treatments before exploring alternative options.

According to her, “Whatever you do, do not be aggressive. If you go and do something aggressive, you can’t take it back.”
