Our EPP Certification from the World Institute of Pain

December 18, 2014Solomon KamsonMore About Us

If you’ve spent some time exploring the Spine Institute Northwest website, one thing you might have noticed is the red shield that we display showing that we have earned an EPP (Excellence in Pain Practice) award from the World Institute of Pain. It’s reassuring to see that kind of icon on a website, but for it to truly have significance, it’s important for you to know what it means.

The World Institute of Pain is a global organization focused on pain management, with a membership that includes many of the top experts in the field. It was founded more than 20 years ago to help give a voice to people who are suffering from chronic and acute pain, and to help doctors and researchers work together to develop effective techniques for improving pain sufferers’ quality of life. The international orientation allows its membership to be able to share information across the world, so that practitioners can learn from one another. The World Institute of Pain sponsors international seminars, training sessions, and clinician exchanges to help provide training and education for physicians. Information is pooled from doctors in every part of the world and distributed to the members, so that they can learn about the outcomes of different procedures, new protocols that have been developed, and best practices in pain management.

The World Institute of Pain also credentials pain treatment centers, singling out those clinics where the physicians go above and beyond the expected to treat patients. Lifelong learning, via attending special training programs, seminars, and more, as well as offering learning opportunities for new doctors, is one signal of dedication to providing patients with the highest quality of care. At the same time, they take into consideration the practice as a whole, looking not just at what treatments are offered but at how patients are actually cared for by both the physicians and the staff, with a site visit.

We are honored to have been recognized by the World Institute of Pain as a top practice, but we don’t want you to simply take their word for it. Deciding to undergo any kind of medical treatment is a big decision, and you need to get all the information for yourself. Send in your MRI or CT scan material to the Spine Institute Northwest for a complimentary consultation with one of our physicians, or take the time to listen to what some of our patients have to say about their experiences with us. Then make the choice for yourself.
